One selfie in,
a compliant ID photo out
Skip the $17 trip to the pharmacy. Your browser removes the background, crops and aligns your face to the right country's spec, runs a compliance check, and lays out a 4x6 print sheet — all without your photo ever leaving your device.
2x2 inches, square. Head must fill 50-69% of the frame (25-35mm chin to top of head). Plain white or off-white background, neutral expression, both eyes open, taken within the last 6 months. For the online DV Lottery, the file must be under 240KB.

Three steps, about a minute
Upload a front-facing photo
Drag in or snap a selfie — iPhone HEIC works too. Face detection runs locally; the photo is never uploaded.
Pick a spec, auto-align & recolour
Choose the country and document. The tool crops to the official head-height ratio and swaps the background; drag to fine-tune.
Self-check, then download or tile
Run through the compliance checklist, download the digital file, or lay it out on a 4x6 sheet for any print shop.
Why Snapfora
Face alignment, done for you
On-device face detection finds the chin, crown and eye line, then sets the crop to match your country's rules. Not quite right? Nudge it with a slider.
Swap the background in one tap
A local AI model cuts you out and drops in a clean white, blue or grey background — no studio visit, no Photoshop, no subscription.
An honest compliance checklist
Head height, tilt, centring, open eyes, neutral mouth — each item is flagged so you can fix it before you submit, not after you're rejected.
Specs for 35+ countries
US 2x2, China 33x48, Schengen & Germany 35x45, Canada 50x70 and more — nearly 50 passport, visa and ID formats, each with the official source linked.
Ready-to-print 4x6 sheets
Tile your photo onto a 4x6, 5x7 or A4 sheet with cut lines, then print it at home or take it to CVS, Costco or Walgreens.
Your photo never leaves the browser
Everything runs locally. Your face is biometric data — keeping it on your device isn't just private, it's something cloud tools structurally can't match.
What do you get that the $17 booth doesn't?
Paid photo services charge $7–17 by packaging up something your browser can already do locally. We make that experience free forever, and only suggest an AI headshot when you actually want one — no 'guaranteed acceptance' upsell.

Frequently asked questions
Will a Snapfora photo be accepted by the authorities?
We can't promise that, and you should be wary of anyone who does. We build to each country's published official specs and give you a self-check, but acceptance is decided by the issuing office. Our goal is a free tool that feels like a paid service — not a fake 'guaranteed' badge.
Is my photo uploaded anywhere?
No. Background removal, face detection, cropping, resizing and compression all run inside your browser. Your face never touches a server and is never stored. The first time you use background removal, an open-source model (~40MB) downloads from a public CDN and is cached locally.
Does it support HEIC (iPhone photos)?
Yes. iPhone's default HEIC/HEIF format is decoded locally, and you can also drop in JPG, PNG or WebP files directly.
Why a self-check instead of a pass/fail verdict?
Only the clerk and the system at the counter can truly approve a photo — no online tool can stand in for that. We list head height, tilt, expression and more so you can verify each one yourself. That's more honest, and more useful, than a vague green checkmark.
What's the catch with 'free'?
The ID photo itself is free forever. We don't make money selling ID photos — if, after you're done, you also want a polished headshot for LinkedIn or a résumé, we recommend an AI headshot service and may earn a commission. That's it; it never affects your use of the tool.
