How the Russian visa photo process works
A Russian visa photo is 35×45 mm with your face measuring 32–36 mm from chin to crown, so the head fills 70–80% of the frame, on a plain light-grey or white background free of shadows. The photo is taken to this spec and submitted with your Russia visa application to the issuing authority — usually a visa centre or consulate that is strict about head centring and even margins. It must be taken within the last six months, looking straight at the camera with a neutral expression.
